Miracle Alert: Young Girl Left Brain Dead After UBER Shooting Rampage, Gives a “Thumbs Up” Just Minutes Before Doctors Were To Harvest Her Organs
**Editor’s Note**: Since this story was first published, Dr. Aaron Lane-Davies, the medical director at Bronson Children’s Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan, has said that earlier reports that Abigail Kopf was declared medically brain dead at the hospital were not accurate. “Following the restoration of her heartbeat, our team shared with her parents the grave nature of her life-threatening injuries,” Lane-Davies said in the statement. “Due to both the nature of her injuries and efforts required to sustain her life, our team discussed the possibility that she could become brain dead.”
In Kalamazoo Michigan, a teenaged girl that was shot in the head during the recent rampage by a crazed Uber driver that killed 6 others is still fighting for her life today. After a string of unlikely and amazing events, this is one story that can only be described as, miraculous. For all intents and purposes, the 14-year-old girl, named Abigail Kopf, logically should not still be with us. Her body was already being prepped for surgery and was just minutes away from having the procedure to remove her organs for awaiting transplant recipients. But what no one was expecting, and what happened next, shocked EVERYONE.
At the Bronson Methodist Hospital surgeons were prepping for the removal of the young, presumed dead, Abigail’s organs. Abigail’s mom stayed close to her side in the room, holding her hand tightly because she knew it might be the last chance she may get to do so. But suddenly, and completely unexpected to anyone, her mom began to feel that there was life still in her. Her daughter began to squeeze her hand back!
Confusion and excitement swept over the room, as she turned and frantically to direct a question at her daughter, “Can you hear me, Abigail? According to Michigan State Police Lt. Dale Hinz, “She began to squeeze her mother’s hand again even tighter when the mom asked if her daughter could hear her, Hinz said.
When they saw the signs of life still in her, they knew they had to act quickly. “She was then rushed into surgery to treat her wounds. The family said in a statement, “Our daughter’s prognosis is uncertain as she continues fighting for her life.”
News of the miraculous event comes after suspected “Uber driver Jason Dalton, 45, was ordered to be held without bail charged with 6 counts of murder, 2 counts of attempted murder, and 8 weapons counts. He faces a maximum life sentence for each of the 6 murder charges.”
Please pray with us for Abigail Kopf’s continued recovery, the faith, and peace of her family that has already been through so much; along with the many victims of this senseless tragedy.
