Scientists Give Disabled Cat Titanium Legs

It was love at first sight when Cindy Jones first laid eyes on 1-month old Vincent the cat. Vincent was taken tto the Story County Animal Shelter because he had injuries on his hind legs. Legs or no legs, Jones was determined to give Vincent a home. Her love for her kitten led her to the Iowa State veterinary hospital to seek help from Dr. Mary Sarah Bergh. Dr. Mary is a renowned veterinarian that specializes in orthopedics. She designed implants that could be inserted into the femur bones of Vincent’s legs and come out through the skin.

Vincent survived the complex procedure with no complications. His recovery time has been long, but his future looks as bright as ever!
