There Is A Huge Change Coming To Chicken McNuggets!
McDonald’s wants to rid itself of how it is viewed as a processed junk food selling business. In order to appeal to the health nuts, it is eliminating some unpalatable ingredients from its most popular menu items.
This, of course, includes making Chicken McNuggets and other items without artificial preservatives. They will also be removing high-fructose corn syrup from its burger buns.
The changes were a call to action by the world’s biggest burger chain as they try to win back customers after 3 straight years of customer decline.
“Why go to the position of trying to defend them, if the consumer is saying, I prefer not to have that particular ingredient in my food?” said Mike Andres, president of McDonald’s U.S.
What the impact of these changes will be is yet to be seen.
Michael Jacobson, executive director at the Center for Science in the Public Interest, said that McDonald’s changes don’t really address the actual problem they have — the overabundance of calories.
In the past, McDonald’s has also switched to butter from margarine for its Egg McMuffins and added kale and spinach to its salads.
Its competitors like Dunkin’ Donuts and Taco Bell have also undergone some changes in their ingredients.
The company also said that they are sticking to their commitment to phase out chicken raised with antibiotics important to human medicine.
