I would hope that we would indeed persevere as Christians and never forsake God, no matter our circumstance!

Matthew 5:10-12 (KJV)
10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

John 16:33 (KJV)
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Romans 8:35 (KJV)
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (KJV)
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

1 Peter 4:16 (KJV)
16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

It truly breaks my heart to see how, despite being persecuted and threatened with imprisonment or death, these Christians do not allow their circumstances to halt their daily walk with God. It’s as though they are not aware of their surroundings, but instead, focused on their calling! Are they NOT the epitome of a Christian?

Here in America, people think that attending church once a week is too much to ask. Do they NOT deserve one day’s rest? What about our brethren abroad? Would we rather walk in their shoes?

We take so much for granted, that it truly is disheartening. I pray that people all around the world, will come to know the peace of worshiping God without fear of being hunted down. May they be blessed with peace, strength and encouragement, that can only come from God!
