A Detroit pup now finds himself on death row after being popularized by the internet. Musician Dan Tillery adopted 2-year-old Diggy last week and took a photo so that he could post it on social media to announce the event.

It was then shared by Detroit Dog Rescue, and it quickly went viral! It was even featured on People and Good Morning America, the internet just couldn’t get enough of the adorable pair.

When officials in Tillery’s home of Waterford Township, Mich., saw the adorable photo, they sent police to Tillery’s home because Diggy appeared to be a pit bull.
The town of Waterford Township has an ordinance banning the breed.

“[The cop] said, ‘You know, we don’t really need much more than I think he’s a pit, and that’s enough . . . You have three days to have him out of your home,’ ” Tillery said to CBS Detroit.

Tillery then sent the adoption papers provided by the City of Detroit Animal Control and Welfare that say that Diggy is an American Bulldog, not a pit bull. The officials have still yet to respond.

He has until Monday to relocate his precious Diggy.
