They Played Some Music And The Ultrasound Showed Something Truly Beautiful!

It used to be common knowledge in the medical field that infants in the womb were unable to detect sound until they were 18-26 weeks into the pregnancy.

Dr. Marisa Lopez-Teijon of the Institut Marquès in Barcelona has just made an amazing discovery. In her experiments, music was introduced to the infant intravaginally using a special device.

It was discovered that babies as young as 16 weeks old were able to hear the sound and react to it. The fetuses moved their heads and mouths during the music sessions. This research is important because now, parents will know with more time if their child will be born deaf or hearing-impaired. This will give them more time to prepare.
