A Dying Boy’s Last Wish Is Fulfilled When He Is Sworn In As A Police Officer

5-year-old Shavez Forte was sworn in as an honorary police officer of the Pittsfield Police Department of Massachusetts. Forte has been battling stage 4 cancer all his life, and thanks to the police departments kindness, he has fulfilled his dreams of becoming a police officer.  First order of business? Catching bad guys!

After they gave him a tour of the police station, the boy assisted his new partner, Officer Darren Derby, in making an arrest on an assault suspect.

“My whole goal in wearing this uniform is to help those in need, and that’s ultimately what we’re here for. It’s kind of taken over me emotionally — I’m almost at a loss for words when I’m with him.” – Officer Derby
