Do you Know The Warning Signs?
According to the CDC, 70% of preschoolers who drown are in the care of one or both parents. It goes without say that that is a chilling statistic.
Contrary to how most people would think drowning looks like, it is silent and very easy to miss. Jim Spiers, the president of Swim For Life in New York City, is trying to spread the word on how to spot the early warning of a drowning.
He explains, when someone is drowning, the victim is too panicked to scream for help. Their “head is tilted back, struggling to stay above water. Their eyes are wide and very panic looking and glassed over.”
