WARNING: Discontinue Use Of Products Containing THIS Ingredient

Kyung-Chul Choi from Chungbuk National University and the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology have begun to study the substance known as triclosan found in many common household products. Triclosan is known to be a hormone disruptor and can even mimic the hormone estrogen. This can lead to alterations of normal production of other hormones like testosterone.

Triclosan directly affects our endocrine system and causes abnormal cell growth.

The substance Octylphenol works closely with triclosan, when the two are put together, Octylphenol enhances the effect of triclosan.

“Studies have increasingly linked triclosan and its chemical cousin triclocarban, to a range of adverse health and environmental effects, from skin irritation, endocrine disruption, bacterial and compounded antibiotic resistance, to the contamination of water and its negative impact on fragile aquatic ecosystems,” – Beyond Pesticides

Companies like Beyond Pesticides and the Environmental Working Group (EWG) are well aware of these substances in products. They have been bringing issues to light about triclosan, putting on blast its status as a known endocrine-disturbing synthetic (EDC). They’ve been pushing for these items to be expelled from household items.

There is good news, however. Many major manufacturers have started to reformulate their products so that they do not contain triclosan.
