MOREHEAD, Ky — County Clerk Kim Davis is denying marriage licenses to gay couples in an effort to convey “God’s authority.” This Tuesday, she has vowed not to resign, even being under the pressure of steep fines and jail time.
The Apostolic Christian, who has been married four times herself, had also stopped issuing all marriage licenses in June than having to comply with the Supreme Court’s Legalization of gay marriage nationwide. Resulting in both same-sex and straight couples to sue the woman.
Same sex couple, April Miller and Karen Roberts, were hoping Davis “would accept that her fight was lost and issue the licenses.”
But once again this Tuesday, Davis turned them away. On their way out they passed another Same-sex couple David Ermold and David Moore who were also denied.
“We’re not leaving until we have a license,” Ermold told her.
“Then you’re going to have a long day,” Davis replied. The clerk knows that she faces stiff fines and or even jail time from judge’s ruling.
