The Man Who Captured It On Video Had Sensed Something Wrong
On Memorial Day, a madman had nearly killed Navy Veteran Joe Calderazzo and his passenger in Lutz, Flordia. The two were out for a Memorial Day ride with other bikers when the man in the silver car had cut one of them off. While at a stop the man in the car is then seen driving into the two on the bike.
The man who captured the video, Abe Garcia, tells WFTS in Tampa Bay that he had sensed something bad was about to happen so he took out his phone to record.
“The guy driving the car was driving recklessly, like crazy out of control,” Garcia told WFTS in Tampa Bay.
“I saw him almost run one of the bikers over, like off the side of the road. So then the bikers caught up to him at a red light and words started exchanging, and then the guy went complete psychopath.”
In the video, Garcia can be heard yelling at what happened next. The man in the car deliberately slams his car into the motorcycle, driving over it and knocking the veteran and his passenger to the ground.
“I thought the guy was trying to kill us, obviously,” the biker, Joe Calderazzo, told WTSP in Tampa Bay.
“You know you don’t know what’s going through your mind. Is he going to put the car in reverse? Is he going to turn around? Is he going to stop and pull out a gun? You don’t know what’s going on.”
The 31-year-old man from Land O’Lakes was soon arrested by Florida Highway Patrol about five mints after the incident. The man faces charges of “aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, hit-and-run and driving without a valid driver’s license.”
“I knew something was going to go down… I didn’t know that extreme at all,” Garcia told WFTS. “But, people are crazy man. Anywhere your life could end instantly.”
WFLA reports that the man is being held without bond. that Vance is being held in jail without bond. Highway Patrol officials say that the man is classified as a “habitual traffic offender.”
