According to the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, miscarriages occur in about 15% of known pregnancies.
After three miscarriages, Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan announced Friday that they’re expecting a baby, girl.
Zuckerberg shared his deeply personal message with his 25 million followers. He spoke on how loneliness follows each miscarriage.
” Most people don’t discuss miscarriages Most people don’t discuss miscarriages because you worry your problems will distance you or reflect upon you — as if you’re defective or did something to cause this,” wrote Zuckerberg. “So you struggle on your own.”
He went on explaining their struggle over the past years. Wanting others to feel more comfortable sharing their own stories.
“We want to share one experience to start,” Zuckerberg wrote.
“We’ve been trying to have a child for a couple of years and have had three miscarriages along the way.”
“This will be a new chapter in our lives. We’ve already been so fortunate for the opportunity to touch people’s lives around the world — Cilla as a doctor and educator, and me through this community and philanthropy. Now we’ll focus on making the world a better place for our child and the next generation.”
If you or anyone you know that are going through this experience, know that you shouldn’t feel alone.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all”
