Mother Is Facing Homicide Charges After Her 17-Month Daughter Dies From Salt Poisoning
A mother is facing homicide charges after she allegedly poisoning her baby with a teaspoon of salt. Police say that 23-year-old Kimberly Martines from South Carolina gave her daughter a teaspoon’s worth of salt, causing the 17-month-old to have seizures and a fever.
The baby was rushed to the hospital where she later died. Prosecutors allege that Martines fed her baby salt in hopes of winning back her husband’s attention. The two have been separated and this was Martines’ way of winning him back.
Martines has other children, including the dead baby’s twin that has now been placed under the care of social services.
