Happy Meal Reborn
Mcdonalds latest announcement is good news for parents but probably comes as bad news for most kids. Plans are to begin giving away books along with their classic “happy-meals” rather than the famous vacuum sealed, over-priced, plastic toys.
In an Instagram post by Mcdonalds, they boasted: “By the end of 2016 we’ll have distributed 50 Million Happy Meal books to kids”
“McDonalds has four books currently in the line-up: Clark the Shark Takes Heart by Bruce Hale, Happy Valentine’s Day, Mouse! by Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond, Pete the Cat: Valentine’s Day Is Cool and the classic book, Paddington.”
The move to “clean up” their image comes after Mcdonald’s restaurants worldwide have seen an overall slump in sales. The restaurant has made other changes to their menu, as well as introduced new items to try and rectify the decline. Whether adding books to their happy meals will result in better yearly profits is yet to be seen, but it will be a welcomed change for parents that could ultimately turn out to be a smart decision for the franchise.
