Prophets Of The Bible Saw These Beasts
And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.- Revelation 12:9
The dragon is mostly known as another term for God’s fallen angel. He is pictured as a wicked being capable of misleading many into temptations.
And four great beasts came up from the sea, each different from the other. The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings. I watched till its wings were plucked off; and it was lifted up from the earth and made to stand on two feet like a man, and a man’s heart was given to it” (Daniel 7:1-4).
The first of four beasts that come to Daniel in a prophetic dream. The beasts do not have names but their appearance resembles that of other symbolic beasts. This first beast is like a lion with the wings of an eagle. However these wings are later plucked so that it can no longer take flight.
“And suddenly another beast, a second, like a bear. It was raised up on one side, and had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth. And they said thus to it: Arise, devour much flesh!” (Daniel 7:5)
The second beast that Daniel sees is a great bear and in its mouth is holding a rack of ribs.
Four-Headed Flying Leopard
After that, I looked, and there before me was another beast, one that looked like a leopard. And on its back it had four wings like those of a bird. This beast had four heads, and it was given authority to rule. (Daniel 7:6)
The third beast resembles a leopard and it has four wings and four heads. Dominion and power was given to it.
The Great Beast
“After that, in my vision at night I looked, and there before me was a fourth beast—terrifying and frightening and very powerful. It had large iron teeth; it crushed and devoured its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different from all the former beasts, and it had ten horns.
“While I was thinking about the horns, there before me was another horn, a little one, which came up among them; and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like the eyes of a human being and a mouth that spoke boastfully. (Daniel 7:7-8)
The Great Beast was the fourth and final in Daniels vision. It had ten horns, and was “exceedingly strong” compared to the previous ones. Three of its horns were plucked out to make way for a new one that spoke blasphemous things.
The Four Horses Of The Horsemen
Then I saw when the Lamb broke one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying as with a voice of thunder, “Come.” I looked, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer. (Revelation 6:2)
The bible concludes on a good note. The promise that when Jesus returns, he will return on his white horse and will war against the evil of the world. Of course the horse is symbolic.
