Stunningly Rare Birth Phenomenon! Baby Born Still Inside Amneotic Sac
It occurs in less than 1 in every 80,000 births, the occurrence is said to be rare, but it happens, when babies born still fully inside the amniotic sac. The occurrence is called “caulbearers,” and photographer Robin Baker, was able to capture one California couples entire home birth of their twins, on camera.
“The second of the twins (pictured) was born “en-caul”, showing through and alive but still fully encased in his amniotic sac.”
Award Winning Photographer, Robin Baker, got the opportunity to visually document the extraordinary birth. Both newborn twins were delivered at home, in a bathtub, by their father. Which they say started a bit quicker than they anticipated.
After the sac naturally broke, Buzzfeed says “[the]mom reached down and gently punctured and peeled back the sac with her fingernail.”
The beautiful twins created the perfect subject for an unordinary day of shooting for Baker, who say “she was on cloud 9 when the birth team arrived to help deliver the second placenta.”
Baker was recently recognized for his images with,“Best In Category: Delivery” award from the International Association of Birth Photographers. An Honor Baker is very proud of, saying “she feels lucky to do what she does.”
