Restaurant Style “Soup Kitchen” Provides Free Dining For The Homeless
A team of volunteer culinary artists are giving the homeless an unforgettable dining experience at this restaurant-style soup kitchen in Kansas, Missouri. The CEO, Beau Heyen came up with the concept as part of the Episcopal Community Services, which offers people the opportunity to participate in a 6-month vocational training program teaching kitchen skills to the unemployed and veteran homeless population around the city.
Healthy meals to fill their bellies, and food service training for their futures, they are hoping it will help land people jobs in the food service industry.
“It doesn’t have to cost anything to serve people with dignity,” says Heyen. The goal for the program is to eventually open up 5 more locations by 2018.
