Ryan Reynolds – Deadpool – Made A Very Special New Friend!
If you weren’t already in love with Ryan Reynolds, you will be now! The “Deadpool” star has just recently reached out to someone who looked up to him the most. Young Connor McGrath, his adoring fan whose battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia, met up with Deadpool in an exclusive interview.
Reynolds revealed that McGrath was the first person to see “Deadpool” and that the little guy is doing everything he can to “put cancer in his rearview mirror”.
He took to Facebook to tell the world of his newfound friendship:
Ladies, gentlemen, boys and girls. This is my friend, Connor McGrath. He’s quite possibly the biggest #Deadpool fan on earth. He was also the first person ever to see the Deadpool film. Like Wade Wilson, Connor’s trying to put cancer in his rearview mirror.
About 6 weeks ago, I traveled to Edmonton Alberta to show Connor the movie at his hospital. Of course, the Deadpool was right up his alley because Connor’s the funniest, potty-mouthed Canadian mercenary I’ve ever met.
He’s my friend. I know lots of celebrities jump up and down touting a cause — and maybe I’m no different. But holy frozen *Censored*, I love this kid. He’s the GREATEST. And he needs your help to get well. I’ve donated to help Connor and I hope you will too.
According to McGrath’s Crowdfunding page, he is at $32,000 of his $800,000 goal. The money will go towards funding an experimental type of cancer treatment called CAR T-cell therapy, which will eventually not only help McGrath, but also other children in his situation.
This isn’t the first time that Reynolds meets with an adoring fan. Here he is meeting up with Tony Acevedo, a young fan battling Hodgkin’s disease, through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
