Do not be fooled! “Secret Sister gift exchange” is nothing more than an updated version of an age old scam. The trend was started last month in October, and since only just a handful of people have reported to have received a small gift. Not only is this a scam, but it’s also very much illegal.

“There’s at least one problem with chain letters. They’re illegal if they request money or other items of value and promise a substantial return to the participants.”
