Thousands Of Jellyfish Wash Up On Shore, Their Death’s Are Still A Mystery
It was a beachgoers nightmare this past week in a South Florida town. The shores were covered in thousands of bodies of purple sailor jellyfish, it was horrific.
Hallandale Beach was covered in Velella velella, a pretty type of purple jellyfish that is often known as Purple sailor.
The city warned locals to avoid coming into physical contact with the jellyfish, as they are often accompanied by the Portuguese Man-o-War, species that can be seriously harmful to humans. It is unclear what caused the beaching of these gorgeous creatures, but investigations are still underway.
