Tim Tebow Organizes 200 Proms For Special Needs Children
Tim Tebow has been making headlines almost everywhere lately for his kind acts, his strong positional stance on certain topics like faith, as well as the foundation that he started called- The Tim Tebow Foundation. In 2015, according to People “his foundation sponsored 44 simultaneous prom events in 26 different states, as well as sites in Uganda and Kenya. More than 7000 attendees with special needs, dressed up in tuxes and gowns got to experience going to prom for the first time.” This year, he is gearing up to go even bigger with over 200 organized prom events, in 48 states, and 8 different countries they are calling “Night To Shine.”
This Valentines Day, 2016, he will be kicking off this years event. He plans on surprising the attendees in several of the locations by showing up, shining shoes, and participating in the festivities himself. Guests will get to walk a red carpet, take photographs against a step-and-repeat, get glammed up in one of their hair and make-up stations, or even celebrate with their own karaoke room.
According to People, Tim loves to participate in this event specifically, mentioning, “Every time I think about it, I’m so humbled and amazed by the way God has continued to grow Night to Shine, I can’t wait for February 12th; it’s my favorite night of the year.” The event has seen tremendous growth, increasing 450% since just last year. He feels his foundation to be the fulfillment of a dream he has had when he was younger explaining, “When I was 15 years old, I began to realize the importance of fighting for people who can’t fight for themselves. As a foundation, we are so passionate about people with special needs, and this event is a great time to tell them how much they are loved by God and by all of us.”
