Undefeated Wrestler Graciously Loses Against His Opponent With Down Syndrome
Deven Schuko had a reputation for being undefeated in his division for his high school senior wrestling team. He had over 100 career wins, and went 27-0 in his final season. But despite all of that success, he laid flat for Andrew Holand, a student with down syndrome whose aspiration in life was to be a great wrestler.
Schuko believes this to be a triumph for both him and Andrew Holand:
“It was a win-win in my book. He won, I won.”
Indeed this is what any good team captain and leader would have done!
