WWII Veteran Gets Engaged For A Second Time After They Drifted Apart 72 Years Ago

Roy Vickerman, 90, first met the love of his life, Nora Jackson, back in high school in 1940 in Bucknall, United Kingdom.

“When the teacher told the class there’s a new boy from London, all the faces turned towards me, but the only one I saw was Nora,” Vickerman told ABC News. “I thought to myself, she’s the girl for me.”

Their romance started in their teen years and continued even when he began serving in the British army during WWII. The two love birds engaged before he left for war.

The wedding was called off when Vickerman returned home because of the trauma caused by the war.
